emotive was incorporated in 2004 as a joint venture by Chip Gately of Response Consulting and Walter Lukens of The Lukens Company to bring to the internet space more than thirty-five cumulative years of Republican database marketing, direct response fundraising and voter persuasion experience.

Chip Gately, Co-Founder

Chip Gately is the president of emotive and founder of Response Consulting, a full-service direct marketing agency with a focus on political campaigns, non-profits and corporate grassroots mobilization. During his fifteen years in national direct marketing, Chip has served as marketing director for the National Republican Senatorial Committee, Americans for Hope, Growth and Opportunity, Forbes 2000, Dole for President 1996 and RNC-Victory '96. Recent clients include Republican National Committee, National Republican Senatorial Committee, Richard Burr for Senate, NYC Convention Host Committee 2004, VoterMailNow.com, Elizabeth Dole for U.S. Senate, Bob Ehrlich for Governor and Friends of Giuliani. Going back to the early days of the Internet in 1996, Chip helped to design the Dole for President website. Since that time, he has assisted clients in developing online marketing projects and strategies.

Peter Pasi , Executive Vice President

After graduating from Dartmouth College in 1990, Peter began his career in direct response as a copywriter at Viguerie & Associates, working for a number of political advocacy and charitable clients.  He later served as Assistant Political Team Vice President at V&A's successor company, American Target Advertising.  In 1995, Peter left ATA to become Marketing Manager of Trout Unlimited, where he oversaw all acquisition, renewal, and fundraising programs and developed several new cooperative and cause-related marketing programs both within and outside the fly fishing industry.  Peter joined The Lukens Company as Creative Director in July 1998 and later served as TLC’s Senior Advisor and Vice President of Business Development before joining emotive.  He is an active member of the Direct Marketing Association of Washington (DMAW) and a recipient of DMAW's MAXI award in recognition of outstanding achievement in direct marketing.  He is also a certified field and studio producer at Arlington Independent Media, an award-winning community access television corporation.  Additionally, he serves as Corresponding Secretary of Northern Virginia Aikikai, has been awarded the rank of second kyu from the United States Aikido Federation, and belongs to several professional photography associations.

Matthew Briney, Vice President

Matt joined emotive after a successful run as Director of Strategic Marketing for American International Auto Dealers Association, where he was responsible for managing Internet services and multimedia development.

Prior to joining AIADA, Matt was the Web Properties Manager for Tech Central Station, an online opinion magazine hosted by Washington Post columnist and Senior AEI Fellow, James K. Glassman. Matt has an extensive background in Internet and network connectivity and has held previous positions with online auction house BoxLot.com (now Excite Auctions) as a Web Traffic Consultant as well as Cienna Corporation and AT&T as a Network Engineer. Matt graduated in 2001 from Virginia Tech with a bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with concentrations in Communications and Studio Art.

Matthew Dybwad, Director of Creative Strategy

Before joining emotive, Matthew served as Creative Director for TSE Enterprises in partnership with DCI Group, where he specialized in web site creation, graphic design, multimedia production, and strategic online communication.  Matthew has been working at the intersection of politics and the Internet for ten years with companies such as New Media Communications and Capitol Advantage.  Matthew graduated from The George Washington University with a bachelor’s degree in Political Communications and Journalism.

Nicole Yamada, Director of Operations

Before joining the emotive team, Nicole served as the Web Manager for AAHPERD, the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance.  AAHPERD is a national alliance of five national associations, six district associations, and a research consortium.  Nicole was responsible for maintaining all aspects of the alliance’s web site.  With over nine years of experience in both the non-profit and private sectors, Nicole specializes in web site creation, project management, web site graphic design and web content editing. Nicole graduated from George Mason University with a B.A. in English and a minor in History.

Kojo Duncan, Account Manager

Prior to joining emotive, Kojo Duncan worked as a research assistant with The Whitaker Group, a US - Africa trade and investment facilitation firm in Washington, DC. As a research assistant, he was responsible for analyzing trade data between the US –and sub Saharan Africa which formed an integral part of the United States Trade Representative’s African Growth and Development Act (A.G.O.A.) annual reports to the US - Congress.

Kojo Duncan graduated from St. John’s University with a bachelor’s degree in Economics.

Matt Heiner, Junior Web Production Specialist

Matt joins Emotive with specialized skills in Interactive Design, Web Production, Illustration, and Animation. Working with the Operations Team has allowed Matt to diversify his strengths and expand his creative talents. Matt has over six years of experience in design and web production, and is currently a junior at the University of Maryland continuing towards his B.S. in Computer Science.
